Foot care is an essential part self-care. A lot of people tend to neglect their feet because they’re almost always covered. The truth is, you must care for them still because there are a lot of painful and irritating conditions that could arise from the lack of foot care, including social discomfort. Here are tips for taking care of your feet.

To achieve a honey soak, put some honey in warm water and soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes. Remove your feet and scrub gently with a pumice stone. This will keep your feet moisturised, soft, clear and toxin free. Repeat the process from time to time for amazing results.

  • Vaseline and Lemon Juice

I know right, how did Vaseline and lemon juice get into the same mix? That is foot care for you. Part of foot care home remedies includes odd combinations. This one weird mix will do wonders to your feet, especially your heels. Vaseline is an amazing moisturiser and the citric acid in lemon promotes skin peeling and new cell growth. What you need to do is let your feet soak in warm water for up to 20 minutes. After which, you add some drops of lemon juice to some Vaseline and massage it into your feet. Put on a pair of socks overnight and voila!

  • Baking Soda Soak

A baking soda soak also works well for foot care home remedies. Baking soda is amazing for foot care because it eliminates foul odours, it is an exfoliant which is great for removing dead cells. Add two to three tablespoons of baking soda to lukewarm water. Stir the mixture until the baking soda fully dissolves then soak your feet in it for 15 minutes. After that, scrub your feet gently with a pumice stone, rinse your feet and pat dry.

  • Vegetable Oil Remedy

Vegetable oil is not just for cooking, it is also for amazing foot care. This home remedy will leave you in awe. Vegetable oil is absorbed well into the skin. It also contains provitamins D, A and E which promote new cell growth. Start by ensuring your feet are clean. Apply a good layer of vegetable oil on your heels and toes, wear socks and leave it overnight.

  • Wash Your Feet

Washing your feet is an essential part of a daily foot care routine. This is because it is ideal to have clean feet. Dirty feet will give room to the accumulation of dead cells, germs and other awful things for your feet. Your feet will also be susceptible to foul odours. Wash your feet properly to keep them clean and mildly exfoliated pending the day you deeply exfoliate. Also, some soaps contain exfoliants which do well for your skin.

  • Moisturise

Moisturising your feet is essential. Making this part of your daily foot care routine will ensure you do not develop dry and brittle skin. Also, it keeps your feet soft and enriched with nutrients that will have your feet looking great and healthy. Asides that, it makes your feet look neat when they come out to play in slippers or sandals. Keep them hydrated.

  • Wear Socks

Wearing socks is not a must but it should be part of your daily foot care routine. In colder or drier temperatures, wearing socks helps to lock in moisture and absorb excess moisture. It is essential to wear socks in your covered shoes because the conditions your feet will be in in those shoes will produce excess moisture which need to be absorbed in order to prevent smelly feet. It is also essential to wear soft socks that are not too thick for a little air to filter through.
